Why Cats Are Better Than Dogs

-Did you know that more people own cats than dogs? According to “Pets by the Numbers,” the estimated number of pet dogs in the United States is 77.8 million, where on the other hand, the estimated number of pet cats is 85.8 million. That is a significant difference. Even though both pets are known to relieve stress, promote a positive outlook and lifestyle, and give the owner happiness, there are many reasons why cats are more practical than dogs. Being both an owner of dogs and cats, in my opinion, cats are the more practical of the two because they cost less, are cleaner, don’t depend on their owners as much, are healthier, and are still just as cute as dogs.

Their curiosity is constantly leading them into funny situations, which gives us a lot of humor. The Internet is full of funny pictures and videos of cats clowning around. Placing a cucumber behind the cat while its eating and watching its reaction when it turns around is a classic.

-Aren’t loud -Dogs are known to be noisy pets. They announce everything with loud barks. Cats on the other hand, keep their moods to themselves. Cats will hiss or meow from time to time, but even then, it’s never as loud as a dogs bark. Your neighbors will never call to inform you that your cat hissing, is keeping them from having a nice afternoon nap.

-Kill bugs -According to Animal Planet, “A cat 's message to all bees, moths, ladybugs and the rest of the insect kingdom is: Don 't bug me”(Animal Planet). Things that fly and crawl fascinate cats. They are master exterminators and will go through the nines to accomplish their task. They’ll climb walls, squeeze through small spaces, and hunt the bug down until it is the right time to pounce.
