Why Canada Should Abolish The Monarchy

Canada over the years has slowly gained independence, piece by piece. What needs to be done in order for the puzzle to finally be completed? A monarchy is a form of government with a king and/or queen in charge. The king or queen is referred to as “The Head of State” in that government. Great Britain is a monarchy with its former queen, Elizabeth II, as the previous head, but now as Elizabeth II died at the age of 96, Charles III is now the king. In the 16th century, the British began a list of atrocious acts that led to what we now call “colonialism,” and “slavery.” Canada needed to abolish the monarchy due to the British beginning famines, conquering lands, and ending the lives of many. In the 1950’s, after amassing many citizens of Kenya to protest their independence, the British took notice and immediately attempted to silence the Kenyans for defying colonial rule. This caused the already angry Kenyans to push the British’s limits and lead the horrible events into play. The British started to mimic Germany by creating concentration camps. Little by little they gathered women, men, and children inside these camps and violated their basic human rights. They sexually assaulted women and men, as well as abused children. They starved men for days, degrading them and their dignity. By the end of the Kenyan disaster, the British had killed thousands, if not more, of them. Another pro and con of abolishing the monarchy would be because it's within the public's interest and has been a popular topic for years. A negative of abolishing the monarchy would be that there would not be an unbiased figure at the top of our country anymore, there wouldn’t be someone to regulate and enforce certain things. The same monarchy that colonized, starved, and murdered different nations around the world should be abolished, they do not represent the modern-day Canada we now live
