Have you ever noticed around schools many boys wearing sport shorts but very few girls wearing them? That's because not very many girls can. The shorts rule at Washington Middle school is that they have to be as long as your middle finger, but many sport shorts are shorter than someone's fingertips. If guys can wear sport shirts why can't girls. Yes, I know boy’s shorts are longer than girl's shorts but that is because athletic companies make girls shorts shorter. Nike's typical running shorts that they make for a size medium girl is 10''- 10.75’’. The typical basketball shorts guys wear from Nike can go from 17'' to 19.5'' for a size medium. Nike's running shorts for girls in size small are from 9.5''- 10.5'', which is the size of a size small basketball short inseam. Men's shorts are from 7'' to 9'' longer than girl's shorts. So I ask you again why should boys get to wear sport shorts but girls can't.

Gym shorts are made for running that is true but they are also made to keep you cooler, and that would help in a hot school. I took a poll and asked twenty of my class mates if they think it is unfair we can wear shorts in gym but no other class. All twenty of them said yes it was. One of the classmates I asked said, “You see the same people in gym as you do in any other class. Those people see you wear shorts. It doesn’t make sense that we can only wear them during gym.” Another one of my class mates said, “After you’re done having gym you’re all sweaty and it’s hard to put back on pants but if we could wear shorts it would be so much easier”. Many people believe that boys will get distracted if we wear shorts but they see us in gym wearing shorts so why should girls get neglected into not wearing what they feel comfortable in during
