“Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems” (Scott Adams). Engineers have a very fulfilling job being able to create items and devises that have not been thought of in the past. There are many reasons why becoming an Engineer is a rewarding job but to me there are three specific reasons I want to become an Engineer. These reasons would include using creativity, receiving higher salaries, and being proud.

Money is not everything in this world, but almost everyone needs money in this world to provide a life for themselves. Unlike the students talked about in the book,, I do not hold money as my number one reason for becoming an engineer. However, the money amount does make the school bearable at times. Looking at the different amounts an engineer can make is unfathomable. According to “2015 Engineering Salary Statistics,” there are three different levels to the salary list for engineers. There is a median entry-level, mean annual, and then the top 10 percent. Looking at an Electrical Engineer in 2015, the median entry- level salary is $64,138. However, the mean annual salary is $95,780 and the top 10 percent salary is $143,200. Now these do vary depending on the type of engineering a person is going into. Personally, I think I want to go into Electrical Engineering, but I also do think Chemical Engineering would be fascinating. Therefore, looking at the difference in salaries for Chemical Engineers compared to Electrical Engineers, Chemical Engineers tend to make a little more money. The median entry-level salary for Chemical Engineers is $66, 281. With the mean annual salary being $103,590 and the top 10 percent being $156,980. Being an engineer is not an easy job. An engineer has to be creative, smart, responsible, and professional all at the same time. Having to deal with all of these qualities at once is not an easy task and an engineer deserves to be proud of themselves. Engineers have a very challenging job to look to the future and think what will need to be needed in the future. According to “Proud to be an Engineer- The Future for Mechanical Engineers,” “Engineers should look forward; find the next step, the new idea, and the next innovation.” Not everyone is created to do the same job in the world. Engineers have a special mind to help them look to the future and see what the world needs, and that is something to be proud
