I am interested in pursuing a career in nursing. I plan to get my BSN and possibly continue on to get my Masters and become a nurse practitioner. Some of the daily duties of a registered nurse entail gathering health histories, preforming physical exams, dressing wounds, making informed and critical decisions that best suit the needs of patients, directing and teaching nursing aids, promoting health through education and counseling, administering drugs and medications, researching ways to improve patient outcomes, and directing care. Since I am studying to attain my Bachelors in Nursing, there is more opportunity for me to specialize and work in sometimes more critical environments. BSN’s are able to work in the ICU, Pediatrics, Obstetrics

The interest rate for federal loans is 4.29%. If I were eligible for Private loans though, the interest rate would be lower since I have a good credit score. I will need to weigh my options when deciding between Federal and Private Loans because both have pros and cons. I am glad to be made aware of this information pertaining to student loans since I was uninformed prior to this class. Based on Mike Sullivan’s moto, “Your total student loan debt at graduation should be less than your annual starting salary,” I am unsure if I will be able to pay off my student loans in ten years or less. I believe I will be able to pay them off in that time frame though since salaries increase with more experience. My hope is to pay my loans off as soon as possible by saving so that the interest doesn’t continue accumulating creating an ongoing burden for years to come. From what I was able to find, it appears many graduate student nurses have a difficult time finding jobs right away. This is due to the fact many nurses have worked in their fields for many years and have yet to
