I would like to help people to have a true understanding of their faith. Many people are unsure of themselves, if they even want to be Catholic. I want to go help them with any questions that they might have. I also have an experience to share that I will highlight below (#8).
2. What qualities do you bring to this role?/3. Have you had any other other experiences with leadership either at church, your school or elsewhere?
I am sort of a self made Catholic. My parents certainly did not bring me up religiously. They even betrayed the holy sacrament of marriage by getting a divorce and meeting other people. I got baptised and was confirmed and even went to CCD but I never went to Church and was …show more content…
As I stated earlier I was agnostic for some time. I fell into depression at one point, from my family putting my Dad’s daughter’s girlfriend above me. It was severe depression. I ended up hurting myself by sleep deprivation to numb any feelings or thoughts on my life. I honestly wanted to die at one point. After a while I had an experience I can only describe as God talking to me, telling me to live. I started to go to Mass more and try to be the best Catholic I can be to thank him. I deeply love the faith and all of the history behind it. I carry a rosary with me at all times and also pray on it. I am not embarrassed by being a Catholic and support the church entirely.
9. Tell us, why you think you should be selected as a retreat leader?
Unlike what I have heard from a lot of my peers, I am not doing this in order to hang out with my friends or just to have a good time. This is much more important than that to me. I feel like with my experiences (above is just the short version) I would be helpful to a lot of people as someone to share my story. I am a natural leader so I feel like I could help make this run much more smoothly and such. I love my faith and I loved the retreat last year. Giving back, and helping to guide other people, would simply mean the world to me.
