Why Basketball Is Important To Me Research Paper

Basketball is one of my favorite things. I love playing and watching it because of how exiting it can be. No matter the season you can always play because it is indoor and outdoor. You don't have to get a certain number of people to play it like baseball or kickball or anything like that, even with an odd number you can make it work with one person being on offense all if the time or defense. Scoring isn't that hard, and neither is defense, so if you don't play a whole lot and you're not that good than you just don't shoot three pointers or deep two pointers. Instead, just shoot lay-ups and if you can, dunk. On defense, you don't have be super good at defense because you usually try to guard someone of your skill level. It is also pretty basic for rules and fouls, it's pretty much common sense, don't hit someone when they are shooting, don't hit them while you are trying to reach for the ball and don't slam into people to try to get them off you or your teammate. …show more content…
But, there are different positions the correspond to height, weight, and skill level. Point guards, which is usually the person to bring the ball up the court and pass it around, are most of the time short because they don't attack the hoop as much as shoot the ball. The center is most of the time the tallest person on the court and his job is to stay need the basket and try to get rebounds and score or try to get rebounds on defense and start an offensive fast break where both teams try to rush up-court to beat the other team there to score or prevent them from scoring. There are other positions but those 2 are the most known
