Right now the government is paying more than 2.5million dollars for free and reduced lunch in Fairfax County (From the 2016-17 proposed budget). this is similar to price that the county pays for athletics. Nevertheless, it is common knowledge that people are not straightforward on the free and reduced lunch application forms (under the table money...). The schools spend a lot of money on these people that say they do not earn enough. The idea of free and reduced lunch is good, but it is being used by too many people; we are wasting our money. If people can manage to pay for 30–50 dollars a month for iPhone, or a Samsung smartphone, then they should be able to afford paying for their lunch. If we could keep free and reduced lunch, that would be nice. We need a way to regulate free and reduced lunch so that the people on free and reduced lunch require it.
There are no upsides to of forcing the athletes to pay for their sport. If someone has to pay, every student schoolwide should have to pay. Then we could drop down the payment price to $10 and the problem would be fixed. If Fairfax County does decide on whether they should do this or not, then they should at least test this at one school to make sure that it will work and get the job done. It is not worth causing any change if it is going to be unsuccessful. So please, Fairfax County, think about your verdict before you make
