Some may agree, and most of them make a compelling point as to why they shouldn’t. Some of these points are because the athletes get paid already in scholarships and specific aids. As Rebecca Zissou states in the article, “Fair Play: Should College Athletes Get Paid?” "Many top players receive tuition, books, tutoring, housing, meals, clothing, elite coaching, medical care, travel expenses, and career counseling. Do you ever wonder what the Universities does with all the money they get from selling tickets, jersey/ fan apparel, or signing lucrative contracts? The NCAA and Universities have been treating college athletes poorly. College athletes are not classified as employees but they do all the work an employe would do. College athletes do not get paid, only receive a scholarship to the university, and they receive all of the stresses and hardly any of the benefits of being a college. Athletes deserve to be paid and no longer deserve the disrespect from the bully that is the NCAA All of the money goes straight to the university or the NCAA.…

They feel NBA players aren’t contributing enough to be paid on that magnitude. Many people can’t stand that NBA players are paid millions while teachers, doctors, lawyers, or other professions are making nothing compared to them. Many strongly feel that NBA players do nothing more than play a ball game. However, there is a lot that NBA players do that people are unaware of.…

I am personally a collegiate athlete and knows what an athlete goes through. Players shouldn’t get paid millions of dollars like professional athletes, because why would players go on to try and play professionally. On the contrary they should deserve some type of revenue whether it's for clothes shopping, take someone out on a date, gas money, etc. For example that’s the same thing as me asking my friend to do something for me and he does all the work while I sit back and relax.…

Most of these athletes are getting everything paid for including their tuition, meals, and housing. If they were to be paid on top of that, what would be the point of trying to do good in school. The money to these athletes would out weigh getting good grades and would in turn hurt education. The whole point of being good at a sport in a collegiate level is to reward the athlete with an education and a college university. Rewarding them with a salary also would further demonize college sports.…

They are growing up and need to learn how to live on their own without mom and dad sending them money all the time, there is not time for a job. While the college coaches are making six figures, these athletes are lucky to even get 100 dollars. Many argue that Paying these athletes would lose competitiveness of the sports but they are wrong because, many professional athletes get paid by their performance, so it’s a competition to be the best you can be so you can get paid at the most possible. The money that these athletes make for their school, doesn’t even contribute to their universities at all because if they did their would be more academic opportunities in america. I think it is important to pay these athletes because, many don’t have wealthy parents that can support them while they are in college, these athletes have no one to rely on.…

Actors and Actresses, singers and athletes are very entertaining, but I don't think they should be paid higher than doctors and surgeons. I would consider myself a pretty big movie fan, if there is a new release I want to see, I am the first in line at the theatre. “People complain that professional athletes get paid too much, but what they don’t understand is that we need a lot of money because we spend a lot of money,” is a quote from Patrick Ewing, a famous NBA star. His quote directly shows that athletes are being paid too much. For example athletes get paid a great deal more than the working class. They also get paid way more than surgeons, who save lives. There are also orphanages who barely make enough money to keep the kids safe.…
