The question of the impact of captivity on animals remains one of the most challenging and controversial over the several decades. Some people disagree that zoos are an important part of animals conservation as they believe sanctuaries in animal's native habitat would bring more positive results as animals suffer from the constant human presence and lack of space. Others argue that zoos provide animals with even better conditions than in the wild and that without zoos many conservation programs would not exist so that for endangered species it is better to live in captivity than become extinct. Both opinions can exist as there are many zoos in the world and their facilities contrast greatly. It is obvious that ill-designed zoos does not serve…

Zoos can help care for animals in need and can better help their health. Zoos are a safe and happy place for animals to grow and evolve and for children and families to come and experience the joy of a zoo. Animals are able to live their lives to the fullest while being at zoos. In a report from Frontline "A Whale Of A Business,” by Eric Holt, states "Those who work with captive animals in aquariums and zoos have a special obligation to convey knowledge of the natural world to the public, to interpret the lives of animals accurately .." The article talks about how the workers at zoos are prepared to take care of any problem with any animal.…

    Zoos Vs Hutchins

Both of the articles that we read over the past few days had completely different opinions. The first article was about how most zoos lie about them being dedicated to wildlife conservation, public education, and animal welfare, and that zoos are only interested in personal financial gain. The second article, written by Hutchins, was about zoos improving the care that they give to the animals and that animals now have a much better life than that they would have had in the wild. Laidlaw’s article had many detailed facts and examples, and was very convincing. However, I side more with Hutchins’ article rather than Laidlaw’s.…

Animal captivity is a cruel, miserable, and an unhappy thing for animals in zoos. Zookeepers are not feeding animals enough food or giving animals enough space to play in the cages at zoos and aquariums, too. Animals all over the world need more care, more safety and more room to play with their type of species. Animals keep dying because zoo keepers and owners can not take good enough care of the animals, or have the time to feed the animals, or take the time to take good care of the animals. Animals in zoos are trapped in cages, all day every day.…

Zoos Are Inhumane Some people believe that animals in the zoo are being treated badly and that they shouldn’t be kept captive. I agree with that because no animal should be treated unfairly and dragged around to please others. Statistic shows that 1,920 cases were reported for animal abuse in zoos. People that work in the zoos don’t realise the harm they are causing to the animals they only care for the money they are getting from torturing the animals.…

In these zoos, animals are treated cruelly and are killed for no reason, animals go through mental/psychological disorders, and lack the nutritious values that are only given to them in the wild. These reasons prove that zoos need to be shut down and these helpless animals deserve to live and thrive in the environment and habitat they come from. It is disturbing to think of how positive zoos are seen and how they are a popular attraction for people of all ages. Next time people go to a zoo, they should look closely at these animals and see the misery and depression in their…

Have you ever realized how zoo animals live? Imagine seeing an elephant in the zoo just standing there doing nothing, but then in movies and pictures you see them always walking and playing just always doing something. Zoos protect animals from these dangers and can help reintroduce endangered species back into the wild. “Quite simply without these efforts there would be fewer species alive today and ecosystems and the world as a whole would be poorer for it.” (Source D). These conservation efforts are important to the environment as the extinction of one species could devastate an entire ecosystem. Zoos are able to take care of animals much better than these animals can on their own.…
