In America, we have the right to vote, work, drive and many more activities we can partake in and to this we owe our veterans. It’s because of them that I can walk freely; they inspire me. Throughout their days of duty, they were motivated to fight for their values. They act as a martyr for the country and that’s a job most people are far from willing to take. Most people in America have nice lives and it's because of the women and men who serve for this nation.…

The question being asked of me is “Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation’s History and Future?” Veterans are important to me because I live with two of them and I have a lot of them in my family. Without them, I wouldn’t know the reason why we have people sacrificing themselves for our country. My Grandpa, Roy Noble, always said that “War is not good but fighting for our country is,” I didn’t really understand that until I realized without them we wouldn’t have a free country. Britain would have taken over and we would have a queen instead of a president, or something like that.…

Now if we look to the present that the veterans gave us we wouldn’t be the country that we are today we may be still ruled by Britain or still have people in slavery, but people are still standing up for us even today . children today are looking up to those people as hero and sometimes they will want to fallow the footsteps of their family members hoping to be as brave as they are and fight for their country and people that they love because they know that they are helping everyone. Now people don’t realize but when veterans come home everything has changed for them and they miss many things. For veterans, sacrifice is a constant in their lives, be it the sacrifices they make at home, to leave their family and friends behind them for their country's sake, or on enemy lines, when they're selflessly putting their lives at stake for us. They become veterans because of their patriotism, their dedication to those around them, the pursuit of freedom, and for their beliefs. Everything this country is built on is protected by veterans’ blood, sweat, tears, and hard work. These sacrifices and their work are what make veterans so important. They pledge their lives to ensuring our safety and well-being, and when they come home, there is nothing to distinguish them from an everyday person.…

Veterans are not getting the care that they need. To begin, veterans in cities have to wait a long period of time to get the appointment that they need. Individuals who use VA Regional office can wait up to twelve to eighteen before getting an appointment ("introduction to do Veterans receive adequate health care"1). This is too long of a wait period for some because, some of the veterans have life threatening injuries compared to the common cold. Also, many veterans are not receiving any service.…

Most stereotypes are wrong, and based on Satterfield’s article “vast majority of veterans returning from war are healthy and ready to lead and are more resilient emotionally, physically, and spiritually than their non-veteran peers.” The truth of the matter is, the media has majority of the public fooled into believing that vets are liabilities, when really they are contributors to society. Movies are not all real, they are fictional, and even the ones based on true events are still exaggerated for dramatic effect. If we know this through common sense, then we should be able to combat our own misconceptions, we have about our brave men and women who served for our…

While only a single day out of the 365-day year is devoted exclusively to ennobling our veterans, we, as American civilians must never fail to recognize and reminisce the sacrifices that many of our fellow compatriots have made to shield and safeguard our freedoms. Every single day, our veterans knowingly jeopardize their safety to secure a “port in a storm” for the noncombatants of America. Whether an American veteran has been in a state of deployment, at a time of action or at a time of peace, they are nevertheless unfailing.
