Why Are Veterans Considered Heroes

Veterans Day Writing

Why are veterans considered heroes? Well here are a few things that come to mind when I think of that question. I believe that veterans are considered heroes because of their braveness, courage, and boldness. I mean, think about it some of us wouldn’t even go out and serve in whatever branch of the military, but these mighty brave men and women decided to take a stand for freedom and fight for our lives. Even though they might get wounded or even killed they took the time out to risk their lives for us. So next time you see a veteran just give them a pat on the back and thank them for their service. That’s why veterans are considered heroes.

A veteran to me is a patriotic, unselfish, brave, and courageous person, who would sacrifice time from their families to serve and protect our nation. As Jeff Miller once said, “The willingness of America’s Veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude.” Veterans from every country have served throughout many wars. They have put their blood, sweat, and effort into doing the right and beneficial thing for their nation. Being a veteran means not only to serve in the military, but it means to have the selflessness and courage to go off to war to ensure the freedom of the nation.…

The question being asked of me is “Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation’s History and Future?” Veterans are important to me because I live with two of them and I have a lot of them in my family. Without them, I wouldn’t know the reason why we have people sacrificing themselves for our country. My Grandpa, Roy Noble, always said that “War is not good but fighting for our country is,” I didn’t really understand that until I realized without them we wouldn’t have a free country. Britain would have taken over and we would have a queen instead of a president, or something like that.…

Veterans are without a doubt heroes, but they are also victims. War has done great damage to our soldiers. PTSD, amputation, depression, loss, and wounds to the body and heart haunt our veterans forever. A normal life for veterans after a war is difficult.
