Why Are Vaccines Important

In recent times less and less people are dying because of diseases such as the flu or the chicken pox. This isn’t because of some sort of miracle; but instead, because of advancements in technology. As a nation, we have been able to be safe from these diseases because of vaccines and the benefits they provide; however, there are still people who refuse to take them. By not taking these vaccines people are actually doing more harm than good. It is important to take vaccines because they help the individual remain healthy, they benefit the people the individual comes in to contact with, and by taking a vaccine the individual helps humankind as a whole. By taking a vaccine a person is healthy and less likely to get someone else sick. For example, a baby cannot take the same vaccinations as an adult, but if the parents are vaccinated then the baby is less likely to get those harmful diseases. Being vaccinated is a sign of concern not only for yourself but for others as well, showing just another reason why vaccines are so important for people to take. By taking a vaccine people are actually benefiting humankind as a whole. Even though this may sound unrealistic, in actuality by staying healthy and alive people can influence economies, governments, and even future technology. By staying healthy scientists can further study pathogens and the immune system to make even more vaccines for people in the future. When a person gets sick their body is being sieged with pathogens that are trying to kill the host organism. By taking a vaccine; however, people can reduce the amount of times that happens and live healthier lives. In addition, vaccines allow us to benefit the people around us and those that are at the highest risk of infection. Finally, by taking vaccines and staying healthy people can help society to grow and prosper further in the future.
