The first two albums, Meet the Rolling Stones and The Rolling Stones, Now!, were covers consisting of very few "Jagger/Richards"- orginal songs. The band was now celebrated for having hosted wild shows, but not for their uniqueness regarding music. Despite their reputation, one of their orginal singles soon became Britains number 1 song, "The Last Time". Soon after, in 1965, "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" took first in Britain and the United States.
The pace at which performers released albums in that time was significantly faster than it is presently. Other various albums would be released in one year; Richards composes, "… in those days singles were turning out every six, to eight weeks" (Richards 141). After an effective period of time, proving that the albums, consisting of covers with a couple of original singles, the years 1967-1969 Steven Zandt’s statement “the second great era: Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street. They make up the greatest run of albums in history ⁙ and all done in three and a half years”
