Why are tattoos considered unprofessional, and why is this still an issue in the workplace? Tattoos and piercings have become less of a problem in the recent years, but the problem is still there and honestly, it shouldn't have been seen as one in the first place. 1 in 5 Americans have tattoos, that's 14% of the American population and all together 45 million people with tattoos, many that are facing prejudice in the workplace(Statistic).

It’s all a classic case of judging a book by its cover, these workplaces and customers are assuming they know who and how this person is based on how they look and present themselves. That’s not the way things should be they’re not different they need money and work just like the next person to support themselves and their families, but that's not the way you see it is it....You look, you see, and you judged. People become more influenced by their own biases and beliefs than they do with actual evidence.
