Standardized tests are unreliable

Picture students taking 5 standardized tests a year and getting totally stressed out. I hope you are on my side and want to change how we take standardized tests. I think standardized tests have not improved because it has not improved student achievement in testing.

The first reason is standardized test scores are unreliable because. Billion dollar testing industries make, time consuming scoring mistakes that they won’t fix .The student is smarter than the score they get.. So once again this is why standardized test scores are not reliable to go off of.

The second reason is standardized tests do not have reliable testing formats. The multiple choice format on standardized test is an inadequate assessment

Standardized tests are only able to measure a few of the many important aspects of what is a meaningful and worthwhile education. In the article "The Myths of Standardized Testing,”by Valerie Strauss, the book The Myths of Standardized Tests: Why They Don’t Tell You What You Think They Do is summerized into a short consensus that standerized testing is not good enough to meat the stander set by the no child left behind laws. "Creativity, critical thinking, resilience, motivation, persistence, curiosity, endurance, reliability, enthusiasm, empathy, self-awareness, self-discipline, leadership, civic-mindedness, courage, compassion, resourcefulness, sense of beauty, sense of wonder, honesty, integrity,"(Strauss) are only some of the things that a standardized test fail to examine. Within the education system, there are many reasons why standardized testing is flawed. While many government officials believe that standardized testing has more advantages than disadvantages, parents, teachers and students are facing oppressed teaching, a bleak education, narcissism, and a lack of respect for teaching. “We don’t need more data that continue to compare students to each other. We don’t need more standardized test data to keep telling the kids in the 95th percentile how superior they are and the kids who score below average that they still need improvement”(Nieto 58 “Still Teaching in Spite of It All”). Nieto tells about how not only students, but teachers and parents are affected by high-stakes standardized testing.…
