This annex where Anne and her family was living was a terribly bad place. In the first place, it was extraordinarily small. Only a few people could fit in there, let alone 8! The place is constantly being bombed by the British. People had to share rooms with each other now that there wasn’t enough room. In addition, with small rooms, rodents were a problem without Peter's cat. Some of the family even slept in the main room. This thing is their freedom. They couldn’t go outside. They couldn’t talk during the day. They couldn’t move during the day only if necessary. Although all this could be true, the family had much more freedom on the weekend. This is by reason of the workmen from the factory below were gone. On the weekend, they could talk, play games, and use the w.c. This family was stuck in this annex for 2 years, what did they do to pass the time? Some of the time they played games. In addition, some of the girls knitted scarfs and sweaters. Anne wrote in her diary. Peter played with his cat, for the time that he had it. Not to mention that people talked with each other when the workmen weren’t in the warehouse below. Even with all of these activities, they still were unhappy living in the secret hiding place. This place in time was one of the worst. Anne Frank and her family were trapped inside an annex for the sake of someone that wanted to kill them. This annex wasn’t a great place to live. People living there had to stay in hiding and lost most of their freedom to go outside. These people had to pass time anyway
