Why Are Girls Dress Codes Harsher Than Boys?

Have you ever wondered if girls dress code is harsher than boys ? In a girls opinion boys have it easier. Girls tend to have more rules than boys do. The school administration thinks the way some girls dress is a distraction to boys, so they feel the need to take girls out of class and make them change. The school dress code is harsher on girl then it is to boys. Girls dress code versus boys dress code: this is an issue that has been going on since boys and girls have been attending school together. According to Emmanda Mckenzie at Junior Lake Central, “ Girls are more affected by dress code because boys, if they wear shorts, everyone would just think of them as weird. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s a bigger deal for girls, because they have things to show. I guess, that people think that aren't appropriate for school.” (“Students Say” p.5). Emmanda is saying that girls will be judged for whatever they wear, so just let them wear what they want with some rules towards it. According to Reina, “ I think dress codes are completely sexist and unfair. We as girls are told that we can’t wear anything to revealing, because it’s distracting to guys. That basically tells us that boys’ education and focus is more important than ours, because we have to miss class time in order to go to the office and change, or even get sent home.” (“Do School” p.19) Girls can’t wear what they want, because of boys staring at them instead of paying attention, maybe the boys should get in trouble for staring at girls instead of doing their work.
