If you ask me what the theme of a Disney movie is, I will tell you something along the lines of a castle, a princess, a good amount of magic, a knight in shining armor and a happy ending. All of these are, of course, stereotypes and have been created after the first movie “Snow White”. She is kept at home whilst the 7 little men are out, hard at work. At the end of the day, she is rescued by prince charming, kissing her on the lips after consuming a poisonous apple. Which is ultimately a happy ending but pretty much a false reality. The princes are also portrayed in a stereotypical way. They are usually expected to come in shining armor, with a white horse to come and save the day. Whether it’s a kiss, or the climb up the tower to save the princess, it is still a false portrayal of masculinity. A lot of the time, little boys grow up to think that they have to be the rock of the house; they’re not allowed to explore themselves, like playing with Barbie’s or dollhouses. They’re all expected to hold a sword or gun and fight each other.
Here, I have stated both the positive impact and negative impact that Disney movies have on children. So to conclude, I feel like Disney movies are good fun for children. When they’re older and look back on memories they can think about the good times of Disney movies. They haven’t impacted me much in my teenage life.
