PG 1 There has been many ways that black people have been oppressed in society. This is an important issue because racism causes them to lose job opportunities, causes them to get involved with the law, and effects their self esteem. This issue makes the lives of black people more difficult and this problem needs to change. To do so, I would like to analyze mainstream news to find out why and how these negative stories are being formulated. If the source of the problem can be identified, a possible solution can be implemented. Some possible sources to this problem can be racist police, racist newscasters, and even racist television and news channels. This analysis of news will involve research of all television news companies such as CBC and CNN. It may be difficult to get the proper information without funding due to the fact that these companies may not be willing to release

One particular question I would like to address is: Why are black people being portrayed so negatively in media? I would like to focus on how black people are being represented. One major aspect that shows the black culture being negatively depicted is the news. I have reason to believe that this could be created from either racist police, newscasters, or even the channel itself.
