Throughout his Journey, Odysseus faces danger and it takes him a long time to get back home. The epic, The Odyssey, contains multiple graphic and violent scenes. Some of these scenes are done in anger and other scenes are not. One example of an angered scene is when the cyclops tries to kill Odysseus and his men.…
Working the phone lines at the crisis center, I received a call from a 40 year old adult. They provided me with information about the crisis they are facing at this moment which includes an impending divorce mostly because the spouse was unemployed for extended periods of time, as well as concern over the ability to meet the demands of bills in addition to overwhelming job demands. Additionally, her goal of continuing education had to be put on hold. There is concern over the children’s anger towards the other parent as well as a lack of motivation with school work. In addition, the children are upset because they cannot participate in activities with their friends as before.…
Lisa Tessman’s article describes the three problematic traits towards political resistance: anger, courage, and loyalty. With anger, Tessman thinks that political resisters need to “train” or control their anger carefully; otherwise, it could lead to errors where people can become angry at the wrong target or use their anger to an excessive degree (Tessman, 120). When people attack the wrong target, it makes it harder for officials to find the oppressors who did the deeds. For example, if African Americans attack the Whites for causing injustices of slavery, the question would determine which makes us angry: the Whites in general or the Whites’ unjust actions. The wrong target is to attack the people rather than the action.…

Most people have trouble distinguishing deceit from lying. Both are prevalent today, whether the intent is there or not. Deception is the intent to mislead when the truth is known, whereas lying attempts to avoid the harm of what the truth may inflict upon themselves. Sissela Bok’s “On Truth-Telling” is a prime reading that showcases greed for power that happens in modern-day life. Through this selection, Bok outlines scenarios where deception is practiced for gain or lying is used to spare the pain the truth will cause to themselves.…
Mark Twain once said, “Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.” Anger affects everyone differently, and some of us are more adept to deal with it. Others it turns into monster making them do irrational, off character actions with severe consequences. The dictionary definition of anger is to make or to become upset, but I think anger is a sense of rage that can interfere with rational thinking. Anger has the ability to stop our rational thinking.…
The team to watch this year in the NCAA tournament is the University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball team. Their perfect one hundred and eight game streak and four back to back national championships has earned them the title, Dynasty. While this resume is almost uncomparable with any other sports record out there, there are those who believe that the UConn Huskies are hurting the progress of women's basketball and overall the progress of women's sports. Jack Brewster, of the University Wire writes, “The Huskies are winning so often and by so much that they are making women's basketball uncompetitive and therefore uninteresting”.…

In most cases there was sufficient reason to be angry, especially when the problems are avoidable but inescapable when the environment is the main factor that situations happen. For example, the narrator says” These boys, now, were living as we'd been living then, they were growing up with a rush and their heads bumped abruptly against the low ceiling of their actual possibilities. They were filled with rage” (Oxford University Press 2013). Living in an impoverish neighborhood where it’s a dog eat dog world, nobody can be trusted; everybody is full of pain and resentment. Moreover, the narrator is told a story by his mother how their uncle who had been killed by some white teenager and left for dead, how it plagued their father up until his death.…
Fall break is a time for us as students to relieve ourselves from the stresses of school. It’s a time to be with family and friends and to enjoy delicious food. It can also be a time to reflect on how psychology is in everything we do. Our motives, actions, and feelings are all brought back to psychology. Over this break, I made note of a few instances that could easily relate to the science.…
