Why America Won World War II?

The United States officially entered World War II on December 8, 1941 right after the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Japan was after the Naval Fleet and ground bases at the attack because they thought it would keep America out of the war. America joined their allies already in the fight, China, France, the Soviet Union, Great Britain, and many other countries. This war had tremendous support and involvement from its countries citizens and some even believe that without that home front’s support we might’ve lost. “A home front is where civilians work toward the war effort and experience the horrors of war firsthand.” (Pat Levy) It had an immense effect on the citizens of America, especially minorities and women. Yes, they had brave, strong soldiers, but without the citizens making all the weapons and armored vehicle America would not have had a chance against the axis powers/Japan. America would not have come out as one of the world’s leading powers. The US needed airplanes for airstrikes, ammunition for guns, tanks to attack, and many other weapons needed to be successful. Civilians were the ones that paid for the war by buying war bonds and paying their income taxes. They sacrificed many materials for the US army by participating in rationing, setting up drives, helping run volunteer organizations, and producing food.
