They would never know if that person was capable of doing all the essential job functions if they are never given the chance to do so. Someone coming right out of college and having their degree may not have the experience the employer is looking for but they went to school for that particular field for a particular reason. It may not be appropriate for the work place but again, the employer would have never known if that person could have been the key to their company’s success. It’s all in the matter of giving them that chance. I personally have the flaw of both. I have no experience in the field I wish to pursue, I have no training, skills nor certificates, I have tattoos, but I can be just as good as the person that’s been in that company for years. I can be successful in the field because it’s something I believe in, it’s something I want to succeed
