Why are you interested in ASB? What do you hope to gain from this experience? I want to participate in ASB because it would allow me to help people I normally would not come into contact with. There are other things I could do for Spring Break, however, the most satisfying thing I could do would be volunteer my time to a worthy cause. I have always loved to help people and ASB would allow me to help people during a time that I would generally be selfish with my time. However, the most important reason I want to go on ASB is that I want to genuinely be able to help the victims of the floods in Columbia. They are people who experienced awful floods and need help. I would hope to be able to gain some new skills and some new friends. Service projects are a great time to improve skills and meet new people. I have been able to really think through situations on previous service projects and that has helped my problem solving skills. Also, during a …show more content…

Service to others has played a big part of my high school career. I am an instructor for a middle school indoor winterline group and I am specifically in charge of the colorguard members and their work. When I am with the group, I help instruct and show these young students the correct way to do dance, colorguard, and performance. By teaching them, it has lead me to develop my own skills, like communication, leadership, and my own dance and colorguard skills. Also, another reason service is important in my life is because of the relationships I gain.…

At my graduation, where I delivered the Valedictorian Address, I was presented with the Harold Albrecht Leadership Award, which was given to recognize the many ways in which I have been a leader during high school.…

Leadership, to me, is being someone anyone can look up to. You don’t have to be the strongest, or the smartest, or any of those.…
