Why All Criminal Should Be Punished Equally

All crimes should be punished equally. That's how I feel the justice system should be run and no one should be above the law. In these cases two girls with a very similar crime both got very different punishments. There were a few different reasons to why they got different punishment but they were for reasons that are not fair and unjust. Even though The 19 year old killed an adult and the 14 year old just killed a baby, I think that the jury should treat all cases equally and give equal punishments because I think that justice should be equal to all that it rules over and I feel a life is a life so that all crimes should be punished equally.

There were many reasons to why two girls got two very different punishments. One girl had killed her owner and that is a very severe crime back in the 1800s. Back in the 1800s when slaves would do anything to make their masters mad they would severely punished just think if you killed him. I feel that was a big reason why this girl got such a harsh punishment compared to the girl who killed her own daughter. The reason these girls got worse punishments than white people during this generation is because of race itself. If you were black during this time you were treated like animals not people. What do people do with animals? They slaughter and hurt them for no reason. This is the reason why white people would get away with these crimes to slaves but if the roles were reversed it would be a whole different story. If a slave kills a white man or woman then people really start to get worried. They don't care if a white person kills a slave or a slave killing a slave. This is why the system is corrupt and I feel this system should have never been this way and I am thankful for our somewhat fair legal system we have
