Abortion Every living person should have a voice, and their lives should matter. That includes babies that are still in the womb. This is why abortion is wrong, it doesn’t matter the circumstances. Babies cannot choose the ways they are conceived, and they should not be punished for it, either. It is morally wrong to kill an innocent child. This includes rape or incest victims’ fetuses, if the child has a birth defect, if the parents are not fit to keep the child, or even a mother’s health should not decide rather they should terminate a pregnancy or not. Wade case is most certainly not the landmark of women’s liberation. That would be the nineteenth amendment, where women became equal to males in the law’s eyes, not a Supreme Court case that says it is okay to kill the very human that is growing inside of the womb of these women’s bodies. The reason for the ruling of Roe vs. Wade was because of “privacy rights”. There are no rights like this stated in the US Constitution. If a husband is killed by his wife in his own home, is it not a crime because she killed him in the privacy of her own home? No, it is still murder. Next, fetuses can indeed feel pain in the first trimester. Bernard N. Nathanson, MD, stated that when an abortion is performed on a twelve-week old fetus, an ultrasound showed that the fetus opens their mouth, much like a silent scream during the procedure. Pain comes from the spinal reflex, not just the cortex of the brain. Next, women who go through abortions actually are more prone to suffering from depression. A study published in 1996 in the British Medical Journal showed that the annual suicide rate among women who experienced an abortion was 34.7 per 100,000, compared with a rate of 11.3 per 100,000 in the general population of women.(ProCon.org). The abortions even cause depression in the fathers of the aborted babies. Lastly, babies are very much wanted by so many families, maybe not by the mother always, however, there are so many couples that would love to have that baby girl or boy.
