There have been 57 million deaths of unborn babies since 1973 when abortion became legal. That is one baby being aborted every 24 seconds (“10 Reasons Why Abortion is Evil”). If abortion wouldn’t be legal, it would give the couples who want to become parents a better chance of adopting a newborn baby. Studies showed that in 2014, 58 percent of the American people were against abortions (Bensen). Abortion should be illegal because life begins at conception and medical complications can arise from abortions (safety of mother first). Abortion should be illegal because life begins at conception. In a majority of medical textbooks, the definition of the beginning life is when a man’s sperm meets a woman's egg and begins fertilizing the egg, which then forms a cell (“10 Reasons Why Abortion is Evil”).
