The study looked at both partners and individually asked them to talk about the satisfaction in the relationship while they were both in the room taking turns talking about there issues. It looked at how each partner rated their satisfaction depending on their differences in communication. It found that the wife 's satisfaction was raised when the husbands talked about the relationship. Neither when the husband talked about his satisfaction in the relationship or his perception of his wives satisfaction, increased the husband’s satisfaction in the relationship. From the different studies that were referenced shows that there are differences in communication patterns between genders. It also showed that because of these differences in communication it was easy for couples to jump to different conclusions leading to more arguments and lower satisfaction in the reaction. The studies also showed that out of the two genders, males were less likely to talk and the females wanting to talk about the argument. (Acitelli, L. K.,
