It all began with a treaty that was soon to be dubbed the Treaty of Versailles. In 1919 Lloyd George of England, Vittorio Orlando of Italy, George Clemenceau of France and Woodrow Wilson from the U.S gathered to make a compromise on how Germany should be punished for the damage they did in World War I. The second term was named Reparation and it says that Germany had to pay the 6.6 million pound debt for the damage caused in World War I. The third one was known as Disarmament which allowed Germany to have a small army and only six naval ships. Not to mention no tanks, no air forces, and no submarine. The Germans then had to dismantle the Rhineland area. This final punishment was called the Territorial Clause and it made sure that land was taken from Germany and then handed over to other countries. Anschluss, also known as the Union of Austria, was banned. The Germans did not appreciate the treaty and said that it was unfair mostly because Germany could not afford to pay them and in the 1920’s the German citizens were extremely poor. There were not many jobs available, and prices were already ridiculously high enough. People of Germany were not happy with the government’s decision on signing the treaty and they decided to elect a man who would completely shred the treaty by the name of Adolf
