Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolf Analysis

Edward Albee’s book “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf?” has a revenge theme through the play. Martha and her husband George have little games they like to play throughout the play to get back at each other for stuff they have done while they have guest over. They have all different games they like to play some in favor of Martha and some in favor of George all while getting their guest involved and sometimes even getting them scared. They both bring up events from the past that till haunts them trying to get the other angrier so it looks like they are wining the game. Some of the games they play are getting the guest, bring up the baby, and hump the hosts. Each game has they’re own meaning and being an advantage for either Martha or George. Each game is trying to make the reader more sympathetic towards the other character.

In the beginning of the play she makes the reader sympathetic towards George, while Martha is brining up the baby you can see that George is getting upset and keeps asking her to stop talking about him. He even asked her eelier in the night to not even bring him up. It made me feel bad for George because at that point I didn’t know if the son had died or if George did something to the kid by mistake and felt sorry for it. By the end of the play after brining up the baby and playing all of their games George is telling Martha how their son died and it is really bothering her making her all upset and crying. As he is finishing telling the story even thou it is fake it made me feel bad for Martha because it is reminding me of my friends mother who lost her son and how upset she gets from even talking to
