The most effective way to prevent whooping cough is by getting a vaccination. The vaccine that is used for children under the age of 7 to prevent whooping cough is called DTaP this is given in five doses at the ages of 8 weeks, 4 months, 6 months, 1 ½ years, and 4-6 years old. It is important that they are given all doses of the vaccine because they are not fully protected until they do. These vaccines do not last forever, so more vaccinations are given at a later age. There are 3 stages of whooping cough. The first stage of whooping cough will last for about 1-2 weeks; these early symptoms just seem like the symptoms of a common cold. These symptoms include a runny nose, a fever, a gentle cough, and pauses in breathing. The second stage will usually last for 1-6 weeks or even longer, this is when the symptoms of whooping cough will progress and become more serious. These symptoms are coughing fits with the sound of a ‘whoop’, vomiting while coughing or after, and being very tired after having coughing fits. Between having coughing fits you seem to be mostly fine, apart from the exhaustion. Coughing fits will occur more and become worse as the disease progresses, and it is more common to occur during the night. Antibiotics will stop the bacteria from spreading, but most likely won’t cure the disease completely. Using a vaporiser is helpful for cleaning the air in your house to prevent breathing in unclean air and causing coughing fits. Cough medicines and normal cough medication is not recommended for treating whooping cough, unless you are told by a professional to use them. If disease gets more serious, it is likely that treatment in hospital will be needed. Treatments that are given in hospital for whooping cough include, managing oxygen intake, removing secretions and mucus from the lungs, being isolated to stop spreading, and entering fluids into the body with a drip to stop you from getting

Mr I is most likely suffering from influenza and this can occur even after being vaccinated against the flu because of several reasons. One possible reason is that Mr I may have got exposed to the influenza viruses either shortly before getting vaccinated or during the two-week period after vaccination (2) which is when the body is still developing immune protection. This means that there is a chance that people such as Mr I may become ill even before they have the beneficial effects of the vaccine taking place. In addition, it is a fact “that there are many different flu viruses that spread and cause illness among people.”…

Three major groups in society cannot be vaccinated: infants under the age of one, Cancer/HIV/AIDs patients, and people that are allergic to components of the vaccine. The first recommended dose of the MMR vaccine, also known as the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine, is between twelve and fifteen months (Measles Vaccination). Disneyland park officials, to protect infants and children, strongly suggested that infants and unvaccinated people should not enter the park during the current situation (Ellis et al.). Anyone with a form of cancer, AIDs, or other illness that weakens his immune system cannot be vaccinated ("Who Should Not Be Vaccinated"). Because a weak, living virus is injected into a patient, the smallest trace of disease can attack…

Throughout my research I discovered that the state of California now requires children to be vaccinated prior to entering school. If a parent does not want the child to be vaccinated they will have to attend private independent study school from home. However, if a parent wants any child as a pupil of any public or private elementary or secondary school, child care center, day nursery, nursery school, family day care home, or development center, unless prior to his or her admission to that institution he or she has been fully immunized against various diseases, including measles,…

Vaccines-calling the shots “You don’t have to cough, you just have to breathe to get the disease because it is airborne and dangerous”. In US approximately 90 percent of parents vaccinate their children and follow recommended schedule which is 28 immunizations to protect against 14 different diseases in their first two years of life. 10 percent of parents either skip or delay some shots and 1 percent don’t vaccinate at all. The reason behind, not vaccinating or delaying or skipping is that parents are scared to inject anything in their child’s body thinking it might harm them and it is reasonable from parents point of view. But today, children are getting sick and dying from preventable disease (like measles, whooping cough) like it happens in third world countries.…
