Likely all of us have been asked this question at least once in our lives. You may need a moment to mull it over, or maybe you know exactly who your favorite band is, as soon as the words leave their mouth. Whatever the case may be, logically you could then be asked, Have you seen them live? For those of us who can happily say, Yes!, we are able to think back to that wonderful first time, or maybe even several times we attended those events. However, there are many fans out there, due to a wide array of reasons, that have not, or cannot, see their favorite group live. For the longest time, I was one of them.
Up until that point in time, I hadn’t the slightest dream of ever seeing, meeting, let alone greeting, my favorite band. It was a foreign realm to me. My first concert was an artist my Dad has liked for many years, as long as I can remember, and I was 9 years old. It was happening; I was witnessing the best moment of my life, coming out on wheels and in trunks. I saw the various guitars from music videos, pictures from past tours, recording sessions, even the vocalist’s social media posts, all right in front of me, no more than 20 feet away. The moment the first note echoed throughout the venue, any previous thoughts I had disappeared. No more anxiety, nerves, or fear, just exuberant freedom. I cheered after every song, up until the very end, when I was pulled aside and given a wristband. Cara, their merch girl, whom I had visited before the show, had just given me a one way ticket to my own paradise. I was instructed not to tell anyone of said wristband, to prevent jealous rage from ensuing. I could hardly believe it myself, I was actually one of the select few to meet with them after the
