Did Romeo kill Juliet or did Juliet kill Romeo? Was it the families or Friar Lawrence? In William Shakespeare's tragedy, two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet killed themselves. The love for each other was so strong they had to live together forever. No one knows who really to blame for the tragedies of Romeo and Juliet though. The deaths of Romeo and Juliet can possibly be blamed on the Capulet and Montague feud, the decisions of Romeo’s seventeen year old brain, and also Friar Lawrence. The feud between the Capulets and Montagues is a leading cause to Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. Romeo started his love for Juliet when he saw her at the party and wanted to talk to Juliet and immediately fell in love with her. Quoted from Romeo and Juliet (Page 61), “My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me that I must love a loathèd enemy.” Juliet stated that her love of Romeo is so strong, but the hate of his father and family is strong too. When Romeo and Juliet got married they said they would love each other forever without anyone knowing. Quoted from Romeo and Juliet (Page 109), Romeo said “Amen, amen. But come what sorrow can, it cannot countervail the exchange of joy that one short minute gives me in her sight. Do thou but close our hands with holy words, then love-devouring death do what he dare; it is enough I may but call her mine.”Romeo stated that he would love Juliet forever and be there whenever she needs him. In the end of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo went to Juliet’s tomb to see that she was dead, but Romeo didn’t make sure that she was actually dead.
