Friar Laurence decided to fake Juliet's death to stop the marriage of her and Paris. Friar Laurence sent a letter Romeo telling him the plan to fake Juliet's death, though the letter never got to Romeo. Romeo found out from Balthasar that Juliet has died. Romeo then went to her tomb to see her and kill himself because he doesn't want to live without her. If Friar Laurence were their to tell Romeo that her death was faked they could have both lived. Friar Laurence should not have sent the letter because it wouldn't get to Romeo in time and should have waited at the tomb for Romeo to come and see Juliet. Friar Laurence can also be blamed because towards the beginning of the play he married Juliet and Romeo in secret. They were not supposed to be married because they are from different families and this would allow them to not live together peacefully. If Friar Laurence did not marry them they would not be able to be together which would save them from their deaths. Friar Laurence says to Juliet to fake her death, “Hold, then; go home, be merry, give consent To marry Paris: Wednesday is to-morrow: To-morrow night look that thou lie alone; Let not thy nurse lie with thee in thy chamber: Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run A cold and drowsy humour, for no pulse Shall keep his native progress, but surcease: No warmth, no breath, shall testify thou livest; The roses in thy lips and cheeks shall fade To paly ashes, thy eyes' windows fall, Like death, when he shuts up the day of life.”(Act IV Scene
