The Friar was responsible for the conflict in the first place. He married two teenagers who had met the night before, without parent’s permission, and without them actually being in love. The Friar stated that Romeo was in love with Juliet’s looks, and not actually her personality, or for who she really is. “Beauty is …show more content…
Friar Laurence does not do that. He reacted quickly without giving the advice much thought. Friar Lawrence's lack of consideration to the effects of his advice directly put Romeo and Juliet in danger. “Then comes she to me And with wild looks bid me devise some mean To rid her from this second marriage, Or in my cell there she would kill herself. Nobody wants to live in secrecy, and Romeo and Juliet were basically forced to. They couldn't tell their parents that they loved each other. “From ancient grudge break new mutiny.” (Shakespeare The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, page 377) They were considered foes before they had even met. Romeo and Juliet were star-crossed lovers before they even had a chance to be together. Their parents had made the situation worse without realizing what they were doing.
The risks Romeo and Juliet had taken for each other was caused by their parents’ disapproval. Juliet faked her death so she and her husband could be together without the fear of being caught. “Capulet, Montague See what a scourge is being laid upon your hate, That heaven finds means to kill your joys with love. And I, for winking at your discords too, Have lost a brace of kinsmen. All are punished.” (Shakespeare The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, page 478). This Tragedy was caused by their families, and by the
