In the famous tragedy, Macbeth, by William Shakespeare the protagonist Macbeth makes many mistakes because of his fatal flaw. Macbeth chose to listen to the witches and was tempted by their empty promises and trickery. Macbeth displayed his fatal flaw when against his better judgment; Macbeth betrayed those who were close friends of his. He murdered, Banquo and King Duncan, two people that Macbeth seemed to have close relationships with until they became obstacles in the path to what he desired. A mixture of Macbeth’s ambition, difficult situations, and persuasion by others led up to Macbeth’s eventual downfall.
Ambition is the quality of doing anything to get what you desire. Macbeth was unable to think about anything besides the witches’ prophecy, and eventually came to the decision to pursue his wishes. Macbeth was so focused on becoming king, he forgot about all other things.
