Macbeth met with the witches again because he wanted to know about his future as king. The witches showed Macbeth three apparitions, the first one told him “Beware Macduff” (IV.1.73) then the second apparitions told him “Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn, The power of man, for none of woman born, Shall harm Macbeth” (IV.1.81-83) and the last apparitions “Macbeth shall never vanquished be until, Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill, Shall come against him” (IV.1.96-98). These apparitions the witches showed Macbeth made him more confident in himself and he thought he would be invincible from anyone. When the second apparition told Macbeth to laugh at the thought of power from other men because no one born from a woman can hurt him. When the war was about to happen, Macbeth was overly confident in himself because he trusted the prophecy from the witches. The people from the kingdom didn’t believe Macbeth was sane “Some say he’s mad, others that lesser hate him, do call it valiant fury. But, for certain, He cannot buckle his distempered cause, within the belt of rule” (V.2.13-16). The people wanted Macbeth to not be king anymore and wanted Malcolm to be the rightful king. “Or so much as it needs, to dew the sovereign flower and drown the weeds, make we our march towards Birnam”(V.2.29-31).
