Some of the good things Madison did for this country was that he helped make a great contribution for the ratification of the federalist’s papers. With that doing so he would be called “The Father of the Constitution”. Madison while in congress he also helped in framing the bill of rights. During his presidency he had difficulties because of the overseas conflicts that were going on with Britain and France due to the embargo. With his presidency it was the famous war of 1812 which was against Britain, many citizens and congress weren’t supportive of the war of 1812, so they didn’t allow their militias to join or contribute to the war. The one good thing that came out of the war of 1812 was “The Stars Spangled Banner” our national anthem. After the war Madison was criticized and blamed for the fact that the U.S. didn’t trade with Europe anymore and that hurt part of the economy because merchants depended on that trade. Madison fled Washington D.C. with that Britain came and invaded and burned down the white house and the library of congress after this incident U.S. and Europe negotiated the Treaty of Ghent. He was the very fist president to only run one term he lost against Jefferson. He was criticized by not only his party but also by the opposing party which was Jefferson’s the republicans. He was considered a monarchist, an argumentative, and an indecisive leader during wartime and no one wanted someone like to run their country. Adams was even attacked for his conservative outlook and for his tendency to act very irresponsibly and impulsively without consulting his cabinet and advisors. During the quasi-war with France, Adams's signing into law the Alien and Sedition Acts, which he did not initiate, became a responsibility that stained his reputation as president. When he called for new taxes and the creation of a standing army separated many at the time. With Jefferson's victory Adams's association with the extinguished Federalist party has been proof that he was on the wrong side of history sort of
