The Non-aggression pact gave Germany no fear of invading Poland (United Holocaust Museum). Adolf Hitler saw this pact as an advantage over the Soviet Union Army. Germany ignored the pact and invaded Poland on the 1st of September. The Soviet army was defeated within weeks of attack (United Holocaust Museum). Russia was terrorized and in a great deal of fear and shock. The Soviet Army was not indeed ready to fight the Germans back, but planned to later.
Joseph Stalin had a simple life growing up. Stalin was a single son of a shoemaker and alcoholic. He lied about his age to the Soviet Union. His mother worked as a house servant (Rotnem).
