It is extremely difficult for most people make decisions such as: what to major, if go to college at all and other important decisions for the future. Maybe the answer comes in the form of an event or an experience. For some other people you do what you were taught, like for example the daughter of a choral conductor might end up being a soprano. Surprisingly, none of these were the deciding point for Sarah Weibel. For this young Music Therapy student her deciding point was hearing her grandmother’s advice. Grandma simply told her about how music therapy would fit her skills and she followed the advice just like how she used to go to bed when her granny told her to.
Sarah showed musical talent from very young by singing and playing piano. This makes a lot of sense when you realize that her mother plays piano and used to sing in a choir when she was younger. Sarah as a kid liked pop singers like Pink and used to group up with friends just to sing together. Her passion was so notable that her family decided to give her a guitar for christmas. Sarah quickly started to mature as a musician and was even annoyed by people that talked about music as a hobby. This was because the word “hobby” may imply being a dabbler or not taking the art of musicking seriously. Now music had achieved a trascendental meaning level in her life. In other words, the cute little girl that used to sing “Who Knew!” in the living room for grandma’s enjoyment evolved into a girl singing in the living room “Who Knew!” for grandma’s enjoyment and her emotional and intelectual fulfillness. This means that the passion for music was always there but the appetite and drive for musicking with excellency and transcendence was
