Who Killed Romeo and Juliet? “A pair of star- crossed lovers take their life... Do with their death bury their parents’ strife” (Shakespeare 735). Romeo and Juliet both love each other so much to the point where they would do anything to better their relationship. Both families mourn the loss of the children and bury the hate against the two rivals. They decided to do this because they have both lost someone that was very close to the families. In Romeo and Juliet, the story is about two young teenagers who find love at a party. The two teenagers families are rivals with each other but regardless of the hate for the opposing family, the two teens feel something strong between them and decide to get married after one day, which is a secret to Romeo and Juliet's’ family. The secret marriage causes many problems for the family which results in the death of the couple . My stance on the topic is the Friar, the …show more content…
The Friar allows this marriage hoping this will join the two families into one and make peace. “For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (Shakespeare 776). The Friar should not have let the secret marriage happen because he is forcing Romeo and Juliet to lie about each other. A man of god does not influence lying and and holding secret marriages that will ultimately end in the death of Romeo and Juliet. The Friar also makes Juliet fake her own death in order to see Romeo in Mantua. After Romeo sees Juliet “dead”, he proceeds to kill himself. Juliet wakes up from the potion to see Romeo dead which makes her retaliate and end her life. While all of this is happening, the Friar is standing nearby and watches Juliet kill herself rather than stop her. Even when the Kingsmen arrive at the tomb, the Friar flees like a coward,instead of telling them the
