Who Killed Brenda and Erica Lafferty Some people call it religious fanatics, some people call it narcissistic characteristics. As individuals, we put the blame on the person who actually committed the crime. Yet, in reality, so many things add up altogether that resulted in a horrendous bloody crime. Jon Krakauer mentions this in his book, “Under the Banner of Heaven” that the murder of Brenda and Erica Lafferty were the result of so many things, events, and people adding up to the horrendous action which took place on “twenty-fourth of July” (176). Ron and Dan Lafferty were the actual persons who committed this vicious act, they were two of Allen Lafferty’s brothers. Allen Lafferty was Brenda’s husband and Erica’s father. They got slaughtered because Brenda helped Ron’s wife to leave him after he became a part of Mormon Fundamentalist and tried to carry on the sacred doctrines in his household. Krakauer connects the Lafferty brothers, and the murders to Mormon history, which implies focusing on its vicious and authoritarian perspectives. It’s noteworthy to say that the murders of Brenda and Erica Lafferty took place because of historical, psychological, anthropological, and sociological evidence. Historical being religions, psychological being the personal and familial psychological history, anthropological being family, culture, and religion, and lastly sociological, which was how the Mormons and Mormons Fundamentalists was developed, structured and functioned within the…
