In the play “Death of a Salesman” Is about a salesman who goal in life is just to succeed and also wants the same for his children especially the oldest son Biff which is also his favorite. Biff is expected to be a salesman like his father but comes to the conclusion that is not what he wants in his life he would rather work with his hands outside on a ranch someday. In this play every character when through some sort of tragic event but to me, Biff Loman suffered the most because his father wants him to follow his footsteps but he doesn't believe, being a salesman is his journey in life and doesn't want to be a disappointment to his parents and his father affair affected his life dramatically.

The first thing Biff said to his father when he went to boston was “I let you down” meaning the math class he failed you then realize he only went to school to satisfy his father. Which is why he stopped going to school. It had a big impact in his life because of the affair he never went to summer school and finished high school. Not only did it impact his life education wise it also impacted him emotionally. Since than he never looked at his father the same way again. His mother mentions how close Biff and Willy were at one point but Biff started to slowly distance himself. His father affair could have had an influence on Biff's stealing ways. “ we have no idea what he sells, seeing only his glad-handing illusions, his limitless faith in personality, his unshakable belief in the efficacy of being “well liked”, his desperation when the magic palls and he is cast aside. Willy’s need to keep up a good front, his misplaced ambitions for his wastrel sons, turn his home into a house of lies and himself into a man at the end of his rope, stepping in and out of reveries that looming up from his past” (Introduction to Death of a Salesman, Christopher

“The Death of a Salesman” perfectly represents how our expectations can be the death of us. Biff, who is the son of Willy, depicts freedom and light as he reminds his father that money doesn’t define him, though Willy is isolated and a prisoner to his dark and twisted mind. “The Death of a Salesman” parallels “Allegory of a Cave” because it expands on the idea of being chained to see a shadow or a tiny glimpse of a bigger picture. Just like in the cave, Willy symbolizes the prisoners; shackled and chained to only see what’s in front of them.…

In Death Of A Salesman, there are two major characters in the play that greatly contrast each other. Biff Loman and Bernard, these characters both serve as representations of their father’s ideals in life and how they perceive it. This is important to the play since it shows us how Willy Loman’s ideology on the American dream is superficial and unsuccessful for his son and for himself ultimately, forcing it on Biff. While Bernard's father Charley ideology is more realistic and successful for his son and for himself. Both Sons represent two sides of a coin one being ultimately successful in life while the other becoming a no good has-been bum who can’t even find his own identity.…

In the tragic play Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller there is a man by the name of Willy Loman who happens to be a traveling salesman who extremely headstrong. The play is a prime example of how men in that time and still today feel the need to provide everything, including all the luxuries of life for their families. Willy’s character has many flaws in the play with his pride and stubbornness seen through out getting in the way, poor parenting and husband skills, and never learning that running from your problems can’t solve them. Willy eventually faced with having to confront failure in a society that is driven by success, represents what we see all the time in America on a day to day basis, with someone who wants to succeed so bad…

The first father-son relationship that is portrayed in The Death of a Salesman is Willy and Biff’s relationship. Willy and Biff don’t have a strong relationship in the present, but in the past, Biff had idolized Willy. To represent the theme of appearance vs reality, Miller wrote “Because if he saw the kind of man you are, and you talked to him in your way, I'm sure he'd come through for me” (Miller 118). The representation of reality vs appearance is portrayed when Biff has this idea that his father is the greatest man and everyone respects when in reality he is barely even noticed. In the present, Biff thinks that Willy's salesman dream is unreachable, “I even believed myself that I’d been a salesman for him!”…
