This event was the first display of his weakness. He was about to leave for his home in Geneva when he received a letter explaining that his youngest brother, William, had been murdered. Victor was filled with grief and remorse. Deep down, he knew that the monster was the reason for his brother’s death. This was the first of many tragic events that took place due to the creature’s anger with Victor. Victor’s life was slowly torn apart by his creation; however, he refused to tell anyone about the mistake he created that was now roaming the streets of his town. Although the daemon was a danger to the anyone who encountered it, Victor continued to keep it a secret. Because he kept the monster unknown to everyone besides himself, it continued to cause tragedy. Throughout the story, the creature proceeded to destroy and kill those who were close to Victor. Soon after the monster killed William, a young girl named Justine was accused of the crime and put to death; a crime that she did not commit. The monster began as curious, loving, and child-like. He did not know how to communicate with those around him due to his lack of skills in reading, writing, and talking. It was as if he was still in the children-stages of life. Unsure what to do with himself after he was abandoned, he wandered and attempted to fit in with the rest of the humans around him. The creature came across a family who lived in a cottage in the woods. He was intrigued by their lifestyle and wanted to watch them further, so he took shelter behind their home. After a while, he gained an emotional attachment to them; he felt love and compassion for the family. He helped them do their chores without the family knowing; this act shows what a great heart he had. Through the family, he began to develop skills; this was another one of his great strengths. He learned about the world and humanity, as well as how to speak, read, write, communicate, and more. Eventually the daemon showed himself to the family, only to be rejected once again. He had decided that he endured enough denial and swore vengeance on the human race after this repudiation took
