Preston Tucker stated “When I was a boy, I used to, uh... I used to read all about Edison, and the Wright brothers... Mr. Ford, they were, they were my heroes... 'rags to riches' that's not just the name of a book; that's, what this country was all about!” (Coppla). He had a dream to build automobiles to the public for a reasonable price. Preston Tucker was courageous by challenging the major car manufacturers because he stuck to his ideas, and he didn’t give up.
Some might argue that Tucker was not courageous for challenging the major car manufacturers. They would say that he was simply foolish. Who would believe that one single man could compete against the Big Three and make it. The Big Three wanted to destroy him because he was posing a threat to them. The government was against him.
Tucker had many new ideas for his automobile, the care of tomorrow. He wanted them to be safer and more family friendly. For example, Tucker envisioned his automobile to have pop out windows. All the odds were against him and his ideas. He did not let Tucker had a great support system. Vera, Tucker’s wife, never lost hope in her husband. She believed in him and supported him with his decisions. Even if that meant spending more than money than they had. She showed pride in her husband, along with his work. He was found not guilty but he still managed to produce 50 Tucker automobiles and had them waiting outside after his trial was
