In every plan, scheme, or procedure that fails, someone is always to blame. Within every situation that goes wrong, it was someone’s actions or words that caused it to be unsuccessful. Over the course of reading the story “Romeo and Juliet”, you come across several ignorant people that made mindless decisions that lead to the outcome of the famous couple’s death. However, the one specific character that had the most control and fault was unarguably Friar Lawrence. His role was a complicated one, and his foolish choices were what had the most impact on the story’s dreadful ending.
Romeo and Juliet had been taking things slow, and everything was content until Friar had made the rash decision to marry them without fully thinking things through. If he hadn’t made that decision so quickly, he might’ve realized that Juliet was to marry Paris. It’s appalling how a man could not perceive that he is dealing with teenagers who are not yet mature and still push to marry them. “Come, come with me, and we will make short work. For by your leaves, you shall not stay alone till the Holy Church incorporate two in one”. (Shakespeare pg 420).This is their first time truly in love and they really should

"In the meantime, against thou shalt awake, shall Romeo by my letters know our drift; And hither should he come; and he and I will watch thy waking, and that very night." (Shakespeare pg 454). He should have waited until he was absolutely certain that Romeo was aware, and then poisoned Juliet. Instead, he trusted a random man to deliver vital information. There are so many things that could’ve gone wrong with that choice and it would have been much more clever for him to deliver the letter personally.
