Ever since the trip started, Margot had been in love with Robert Wilson. Robert was the tour guide. He was a much more confident man than Margot’s husband, Francis. Francis let Margot be the leader in their relationship. “The next thing he knew he was running; running wildly, in panic in the open, running toward the stream.”. Here we see Francis afraid and acting cowardly. When Margot meets Robert it’s her first time seeing a man with some power and leadership and she loves it. “So he's a bloody four-letter man as well as a bloody coward, he thought.” . Robert is calling Francis a coward here. He even knows how much more dominant Margot is. Soon these things lead to an affair between the two. Francis knows of the blatant affair that the two have and allows his anger and frustration to translate to confidence and intensity for the hunt. A lot of commotion and poor aim could have very well lead up to a missed shot that hit Francis. Margot seemed truly sincere in the moment. “‘There's a hell of a lot to be done,’he said. ‘And I'll have to send a truck off to the lake to wireless for a plane to take the three of us into Nairobi. Why didn't you poison him? That's what they do in England.’” "’Stop it. Stop it. Stop it,’ the woman cried.” Here Robert tries telling Margot that there were many other ways she could’ve killed him. This implies that they had a plan to get rid of him. Even then, she is crying and telling him to stop. But, could this all have been good acting? I belive so. It was a blatant plan to murder
