Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare is a play about two young lovers who take their own lives because of the tragic events that separate them. Throughout this play the family of Romeo, the Montagues and the family of Juliet, the Capulets are in a malicious conflict. This makes it all the more surprising and dangerous when Romeo and Juliet declare their love to one and other. To make matters more difficult, they marry in secret, cementing their love. This leads to Juliet undertaking an audacious and childish plan to see Romeo after he is banished. Many in this tale can to be blame for this unfortunate situation but ultimately it is two who are responsible. Romeo and Juliet cause their own deaths by making rash and bold decisions because of their fleeting love.

Juliet admitted this when she said “ Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or, if thou will not, be but sworn my love”(Shakespeare 404). Here she is openly telling Romeo to rebel and love her even though he is a Montague and in great conflict with Juliet’s family. This is mere hours into meeting one and other and this irrational, impulsive behavior, helps cause their deaths. In an even more egregious instance of Romeo’s impulsiveness, he kills Tybalt (Shakespeare 429) moments after the marriage. Even in the happy moments after his marriage, he still kills Tybalt is spite of his friend, Benvolio’s warnings. This one action leads to Juliet’s ludicrous plan that eventually kills Romeo and Juliet.
