The Bombing of Oklahoma City was one of the horrific acts of a serial killer in American history that occurred on a sunny morning in April 1995. Timothy James McVeigh was born on April 23, 1968, from his parents Bill and Mickey McVeigh who was permanently separated. Timothy McVeigh joined the U.S. Army in May 1988 where he met Terry Nichols in basic training in Georgia. Later in their Army career, they both served at Ft Riley, Kansas. In 1989 Terry Nichols received honorable discharged from the U. S. Army and Timothy McVeigh continued serving the military. He spent four months of service in the Persian Gulf War and returned in 1991. After his return from the Persian Gulf, he went to special training at Ft. While living with his father, he started experiencing small spurts depression and thoughts of suicide. He became upset with politician, taxes, the gun activist, and the U. S. foreign policy. The newspapers and his congressman starting to receive angry messages from Timothy McVeigh on subjects such as the law prohibiting the possession of poisonous substances that can harm or kill, and slaughterhouse. In the summer of 1992, he spent some time at Terry Nichols home in Michigan, which they both shared a hatred for the Federal Government. After his vacation, he returned to his father’s home in upstate New York in Timothy McVeigh decided to quit his security job and pack up his thing and take a long trip where he begins to sell guns and military items at gun shows. Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols reunited and drove to Elohim city, which was a compound for militants in eastern Oklahoma. In the same month, he did not go through with it because that day coincidentally a ban was placed on assault weapons which became law. He then rents a storage unit in Herington, Kansas which he uses to store his explosive ingredients. Also, he brought his first ton of ammonium nitrate, an agricultural fertilizer the two critical elements in his bomb. He then burglarizes a quarry near Marion, Kansas where is steal dynamite and blasting caps. Then McVeigh and Nichols then drive to Arizona, where the lay low for two weeks. Both then discuss the plans of the bombing while they were living out of a rented room in Kansas. In April 1995 Terry Nichols and others were thinking about backing out of the bombing plot and decided at the end of the month not to participate. On April 19, 1995, heads towards Oklahoma a 7 A. M. wearing a t-shirt with a drawing of Abraham Lincoln. Approximately 8:50 A.M. he enters in Oklahoma City, he drives the rented rider truck shortly after 9 A.M. up NW 5th street, and he lights two bomb fuses. He then parks the truck in front of the Murrah Federal Building locks the doors and walks toward the YMCA building. The truck explodes at 9:02 A.M. taking out the majority of the Federal Building, also seriously damaging nearby buildings. The explosion killed 167 people and injured 500 people.
