How is this possible? That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:15, 16
Yeah, so? Well, here 's the thing: Believing leads to everlasting life. But only believing is not enough. If one believes in God, they would believe what Jesus said when He stated, I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. Believing that Jesus is the Son of the living God and the Messiah (Matthew 16:18) means believing, trusting and doing His every Word. Jesus is not the Messiah without being the Son of God and Jesus is not the Son of God without being the Messiah. He is both, not one or the other; the two cannot be separated. "Christian" means being a follower of Christ, a disciple of Christ. Jesus has never commanded us to do anything that He has never done Himself. With that being said, one must be baptized. Jesus Himself has said, He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. If one believes on Jesus, he will be baptized and be saved. If one does not believe, he will not be baptized because why would one be baptized if he does not believe? His unbelief causes him to be eternally lost.
